Growing up in America, the lure of playing sports such as basketball, baseball, and American football can be high. However, for Robert, there was only one sport he was interested in and that was football. As a child, Robert played for multiple football teams in America at the same time.

At a young age he was spotted during a Summer Camp playing football and given the opportunity to trial for a place in US Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program (ODP). Around the age of 16, Robert became very injury prone, leading to his drop from his state’s ODP team. He continued to play for both his high school and local club teams. It was around this time that Robert began to look for other ways to be involved with football.

In the summer of 2010, Robert went to South Africa for the World Cup which only increased his desire to be a part of the football industry. Later that year, Robert began studying at Southampton Solent University doing a BA Honours Football Studies degree. During his time in Southampton studying football, Robert also picked up his FA Level 1 and FA Level 2 coaching qualifications.

In 2012, Robert began a part-time internship with Premier League team Reading Football Club. Here he worked with their Youth Academy in the area of Performance and Match Analysis. The skills and ideas he has learned from the relationships he built with the coaches there have greatly helped to shape and improve his personal coaching style.

Experienced Premier Coaches coach Jamie Gould was responsible for drawing Robert’s attention to the Premier Coaches team which he was very eager to be a part of. Robert will experience his first cruise in July, representing Premier Coaches when he coaches on board the P&O Cruise Liner Azura this summer.
